ImaginAsian in Co-Distribution Deal for Chinese Drama

NEW YORK, February 15: ImaginAsian Entertainment has
acquired the North American rights to co-distribute the award-winning Chinese
drama The Road with Easternlight Films,
with plans to roll out the film in theaters and then on DVD, VOD, pay TV and
broadcast TV.

ImaginAsian Pictures, ImaginAsian Entertainment’s film
division, and Easternlight Films, will release the film first to theaters, then
to home video, VOD and pay television, and finally broadcast television.

Directed by Zhang Jiarui, The Road is a drama that covers five decades in the life of a
ticket girl, played by Zhang Jingchu (Rush Hour 3, Peacock, Seven
Swords
), on a rural bus in China during the
turbulent Cultural Revolution. The feature had its U.S. premiere in the Asian
New Classics section of AFI FEST 2006.

The Road bears all
the hallmarks of Chinese cinema’s beautiful imagery and emotional power and it
fits in perfectly with iaPictures’ slate of critically acclaimed Asian films,”
said Michael Hong, the CEO of ImaginAsian Entertainment.

Last year, ImaginAsian Pictures released The Motel, the acclaimed film directed by Michael Kang, in
conjunction with Palm Pictures. ImaginAsian Pictures will also release Ham
Tran’s Vietnamese American epic Journey from the Fall in the spring.
