Alfred Haber In Iron Chef Format Rights Deal

PALISADES PARK, February 13: In a joint venture agreement,
Alfred Haber Distribution (AHDI), Keller Productions and Triage Entertainment
have secured the international format rights to the hit Japanese series Iron
Chef
from Japan’s Fuji Television.

AHDI also acquired the international distribution rights to
the original 297 episodes of the Japanese version of Iron Chef and will start selling the rights around the world,
excluding any pre-existing deals.

Under the agreement, AHDI will be responsible for format
sales efforts, initially targeting key markets like Germany, Italy, Mexico,
Spain, New Zealand and Australia. Keller Productions and Triage Entertainment,
the executive producers of Iron Chef America on Food Network in the U.S., will oversee the local production and
creative adaptation for the format in each territory.

“We are vested into making the Iron Chef a highly successful format and thrilled to be
integrating the creative talents of our partners, Keller and Triage, as part of
our sales efforts,” commented Alfred Haber, the founder of AHDI. “These initial
six territories are only the start and it is our goal to have Iron
Chef
formats around the world. We are
looking forward to working closely with our local partners, as well as the
creative team from Fuji Television, to help ensure the success of the Iron
Chef
format in each of these new
territories.”

Originally produced by Fuji Television, Iron Chef is a series in which master chefs from near and far
challenge one of the Iron Chefs, each specializing in a different cuisine, to
see who can prepare the most creative dishes within one hour featuring the
single theme ingredient of the day. Live commentary and sideline reports are
interspersed throughout the one-on-one cooking battle, with a team of celebrity
judges tasting the final results.
