Canada's The Family Channel Commissions New DECODE Production

TORONTO/LONDON, February 6: DECODE Entertainment has received a commission for a new live action
series for tweens, The Latest Buzz, from
Canada’s The Family Channel.

In The Latest Buzz
(formerly known as Glimmer),
a struggling youth-oriented magazine called
Teen Buzz decides to replace its
staff with actual teens by running an essay-writing contest that gives five
students of a progressive high school the opportunity to work at the magazine’s
offices during the last school period of the day. The series follows the
adventures of the teens as they deal with celebrity interviews, intense story
deadlines, fashion shows and music reviews.

The commission of the 13×22-minute
tween comedy by The Family Channel follows the international success of DECODE
Entertainment’s other live action shows, Naturally Sadie and Radio Free
Roscoe. Radio Free Roscoe
has been sold to The N, Family Channel, Canal J, France 2
and Nickelodeon U.K. Naturally Sadie, currently in its third season of
production, airs on, among others, Disney Channel in the U.S., Nickelodeon Asia
and Nickelodeon U.K., Family Channel and France 2.

Beth Stevenson, the executive VP
of production and development at DECODE Entertainment, commented: “We’re really
excited by this new show. The vehicle of publishing a youth magazine lets us
organically explore the interests and issues relevant to our audience. We’ve established
our live action credentials with Naturally Sadie and Radio Free
Roscoe
and we’re confident that The
Latest Buzz
will
prove just as popular.”
