October Films Moves into Popular Factual

MANCHESTER, February 1: British documentary production
outfit October Films has expanded its operations with the launch of October
North, which will specialize in popular factual and current affairs
programming.

Former BBC Manchester executive producer Emma Worthington
will helm October North, based in Manchester. In her new role as MD of October
North, she will be responsible for increasing October Films’ output of popular
factual programming, particularly pre-watershed series. Worthington has 14
years of experience as a producer/director and executive producer at Granada
Television and BBC Manchester. Her program credits include Liquid Assets (BBC Three), How the War was Spun (BBC One), Honey We’re Killing the Kids (BBC One/BBC Three) and Real Estates (BBC Two).

October North will operate as a division of October Films
and produce original popular factual content with the goal of broadening
October Films’ extensive programming catalogue. The launch of October North
builds on October Films’ recent popular successes with Celebrity Sex Tapes
Unwound,
which is currently Channel 4’s top
VOD download, The Boy Who Lives Before (Five) and Medical Mavericks (Discovery Channel).

“Popular factual series are a key part of the schedules,”
said Denman Rooke, the MD of October Films.
“This expansion reflects our ambitions to capitalize on the demand for this
type of programming whilst continuing our investment in the high-end current
affairs and award-winning documentary about which we have always been
passionate.”
