Nickelodeon Latin America Launches New Animation Line-Up

MIAMI, January 17: On the
heels of celebrating its 10th anniversary in the region, Nickelodeon
Latin America announced a slate of new programming for its spring lineup at
NATPE.

The shows include two
series first developed for non-traditional platforms, Mr. Meaty and Barnyard, as well as the Mexican folk art-inspired comedy El Tigre: The
Adventures of Manny Rivera
and the
preschool production Blue’s Room.

Mr. Meaty is an animated comedy that initially appeared as a
series of shorts on Nickelodeon’s TurboNick broadband platform in the U.S. The
comedy focuses on the life of two teenage slackers who work in a fast-food
franchise and aspire to save up enough money to produce their dream project, a
horror movie called Ninja Zombies. Barnyard, a CGI animated comedy series that was developed
from the feature film of the same title and created by Steve Oedekerk, takes
place in a barnyard and features a carefree cow named Otis who is suddenly
given the responsibility of running the farm and must protect his fellow
barnyard animals from harm. El Tigre, an animated comedy created by the husband-wife team Jorge Gutierrez
and Sandra Equihua, centers on a teenage boy named Manny Rivera who must choose
between becoming a superhero like his father or a feared super-villain like his
grandfather. Blue’s Room is an
educational series targeted at preschoolers that focuses on a talking dog named
Blue.

“Nick has always prided
itself in producing creative content,” said Tatiana Rodriguez, the VP of
programming and creative strategy for Nickelodeon Latin America. “Developing
original diverse programming in-house from non traditional sources allows us to
super serve our audience and enhances the overall appeal of our brand.”

In addition to its new
series premieres, the network will also air new episodes of 21 current hit Nick
and Nick Jr. series that range from tween properties such as Drake &
Josh to
preschool hits such as Go-Diego-Go!,
Wonder Pets
and Dougie in
Disguise
.
