Peace Arch Inks Deal with Sony for The Tudors

LOS ANGELES, November 7: Sony Pictures Entertainment has
acquired the international distribution rights for DVD, TV, mobile and new
media, outside of North America, to Peace Arch Entertainment’s ten-part
mini-series The Tudors.

The series is slated to premiere in the U.S. in the spring
on Showtime Networks. CBC will air the series in Canada, where Peace Arch Home
Entertainment will represent the home entertainment rights.

The Tudors tells the
story of the young King Henry VIII, played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match
Point
, Elvis, Bend It Like
Beckham
) focusing on the early years of his
reign. The cast also includes Sam Neill as Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, Henry Czerny
as The Duke of Norfolk, Gabrielle Anwar as Princess Margaret, and Natalie
Dormer as the infamous Anne Boleyn. The mini-series was created and written by
Michael Hirst, whose work includes the Academy Award-winning Elizabeth. It completed principal photography on location in
Ireland in October.

Michael Hirst, Ben Silverman of Reveille, Tim Bevan and Eric
Fellner of Working Title are the executive producers of The Tudors, with Gary Howsam of Peace Arch Entertainment Group
and Morgan O'Sullivan of World 2000 producing.
