Production Resumes of Telemundo’s Quinceañera

MIAMI, October 25: Telemundo has resumed production on its reality show Quinceañera, which was shut down in Mexico last month by TV Azteca, who has been engaged in a legal dispute with the series’ producers, Nostromo América.

Telemundo has built a new set for the show in Miami to film the final three episodes, building up the finale, which will be recorded in front of a live audience this weekend.

"We are thrilled about restarting Quinceañera‘s production here in Miami," said Patricio Wills, the president of Telemundo-RTI and head of production at Telemundo Studios. "Telemundo has demonstrated its vast capability as a producer and commitment to its audience by moving this show’s production from Mexico to Miami in record time without any interruption in its schedule."

Last month, Telemundo issued a statement pointing to the “unjustified use of force and intimidation” on the part of TV Azteca, which shuttered production of the show in Mexico. In response, TV Azteca said, “The process, a common practice in both U.S. and Mexico, was conducted in a peaceful manner by the public authorities and in the presence of legal teams representing Nostromo, Foros Ajusco and TV Azteca.”

The production block followed the filing of a lawsuit in August against Nostromo and the host of the show, Alan Tacher, alleging breach of contract.
