NGTI Backs New Production Company

LONDON, October 5: Change Productions, a new factual outfit,
has set up shop in London with the backing of National Geographic Television
International.

Headed by Ben Goold, Change Productions will specialize in
factual programming for the British and international markets, with a focus on
science and the natural world, history, archaeology, arts, culture and
religion. Goold is an award-winning producer and executive producer, whose
recent credits include the Channel 4 series The Play’s The Thing and Trafalgar Battle Surgeon. He was previously an executive producer and
producer at Wall to Wall, where he wrote and produced Ancient
Egyptians.

“The U.K. is currently a very exciting market for factual
programming, so it’s a great time to be launching Change Productions,” Goold
said. “The Change concept has been welcomed by those broadcasters contacted to
date as it has all the advantages and energy of a new, enthusiastic production
company, but with the added reassurances and credibility that backing from a
company like NGTI can bring.”

NGTI president Ian Jones added, “NGTI has diversified
considerably in the past 12 months—we now represent kids’ programming,
have a head of business development for digital media and continue to increase
the third-party hours that we represent. We started targeting programming from
independent production companies as a way of expanding our catalogue and see
backing a start-up company as the next logical step. Change Productions will
operate in the U.K. independent production sector, focusing on the best
opportunities for the team with U.K. and international broadcasters. Ben has
excellent factual credentials and will ensure that Change makes programming
that both compliments that produced by National Geographic Television and
provides valuable new content for our expanding catalogue.”
