MercuryMedia Lines Up Deals on 9/11 Docs

LONDON, September 11: On the fifth anniversary of the
September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, British factual distributor MercuryMedia
has announced a slew of deals on two documentaries that take a controversial
look at the events of the day.

9/11 Press For Truth
has been licensed to TV Catalunya, TV2 Norway, FOXTEL and Al Jazeera. The
buzz-generating Loose Change 2,
made by two college students and first launched on Google Video—with 30
million confirmed viewings online—has also secured a range of deals.
Three Dutch broadcasters are set to air clips from the documentary, while BNN
acquired the entire film, and RVP Productions took DVD rights. Other
broadcasters on board are VRT, TV2 Norway, TV4 Sweden, Canal + Poland, and RTP
Portugal. In Asia, Hanaro Media Korea licensed the VOD rights, while Geo TV
acquired the broadcast rights for Pakistan. FOXTEL in Australia bagged the
pay-TV rights for Australia and New Zealand. Deals were clinched in Latin
America with Exa TV in Mexico and TV Globo in Brazil.
