Sky One Unveils Fall Slate

LONDON, August 16: The
reality series The Race, The
Big Idea
and Cirque de
Celebrité
and a HD concert with
Robbie Williams headline Sky One’s fall slate.

Cirque de Celebrité will run over a ten-week period and will be hosted
by Ruby Wax. It will feature celebrities testing their circus acrobatic skills
before a live studio audience, and viewers at home will vote for their
favorites. Each week, one contestant will be eliminated from the Cirque Surreal
circus.

The Race, hosted by Denise Van Outen, will have two teams
of five girls and five guys, captained by Eddie Irvine and David Coultard, in a
weeklong competition involving rally cars, high-speed monster truck and
off-road buggies. The live final at Silverstone Grand Prix sees four members of
each team competing in finale. Participants include Melissa Joan Hart, Goldie,
Cerys Matthews and Frankie Muniz.

The seven-part The Big
Idea
is a nationwide search that
gives Britons the chance to showcase their inventions/ideas to a panel of three
judges. Also on the reality end, returning to the schedule this fall is The
Match
.

The fall season will also
include Robbie Williams Live: A Close Encounter, filmed in HD from Roundhay Park in Leeds. Terry
Pratchett’s Hogfather
hits Sky One
screens in December and features Sir David Jason, Joss Ackland, Marc Warren,
David Warner, Nigel Planer, Tony Robinson, Ian Richardson, Neil Pearson and
introducing Michelle Dockery in the role of Susan. Other highlights include Standoff, Ross Kemp on Gangs, Murder or Mutiny and new seasons of Mission Implausible and Vroom Vroom.

Richard Woolfe, the
director of programs for Sky One, Two and Three commented: “From Sir David
Jason to David Coultard, Robbie Williams to Ruby Wax, I am thrilled to announce
our autumn season packed with original, entertaining, must-see shows. Whether
breaking the speed barrier in The Race, breaking sweat in The Match or avoiding breaking bones in Cirque De Celebrité, we’ve taken a galaxy of stars out of their comfort
zone. Sky One presents ground-breaking programming … from the U.K.’s first ever
live HD concert with Robbie and the first live-action adaptation of a Terry
Pratchett novel in Hogfather,
this autumn line-up is dedicated to pure entertainment and will undoubtedly be
talked-about TV.”
