Warner Bros. Preps Direct-to-DVD Animation Features from DC Comics

BURBANK, July 25: Warner Home Video, Warner Bros. Animation
and DC Comics are teaming for a series of direct-to-DVD family-friendly
animated features entitled DC Universe,
with plans to release two to three titles per year based on comics like Wonder
Woman and Superman.

The films will be made by DC Comics' creators, including
Darwyn Cooke (The New Frontier, Catwoman) and Marv Wolfman (The New Teen Titans), along with producers Bruce Timm (Justice
League Unlimited
, Batman: The
Animated Series
) and Tom DeSanto (executive
producer of the first two X-Men
films). Writer/producers Duane Capizzi (The Batman, The Batman vs. Dracula) and Stan Berkowitz (Justice League) will also be part of the creative team on the DC
Universe
films. Working with Warner Bros.
Animation, the writers will adapt classic comic book stories.

Warner Home Video will be the exclusive worldwide home
entertainment distributor for all DC Universe movies.

The first films are slated for release in late 2007 or early
2008. These include Justice League: New Frontier, Superman: Doomsday and Teen
Titans: The Judas Contract
. Other DC
properties with films in development include Green Lantern, Flash and Wonder
Woman.
