Netflix Renews House of Cards, Orders Bob Odenkirk & David Cross Sketch Comedy

LOS GATOS: Netflix has placed an order for two new originals, including a sketch comedy show featuring Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and David Cross (Arrested Development), in addition to renewing House of Cards for a fourth season.

The sketch comedy will have four half-hour episodes and a one-hour "making of" special. Odenkirk and Cross are writing and starring in the series, and also serve as executive producers. The pair previously worked together on the HBO sketch comedy Mr. Show with Bob and David, which ran from 1995 to 1998.

Netflix also has a new drama series coming, Montauk, set in 1980s Long Island. The 8×1-hour series, slated for 2016, is written and directed by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, Hidden). The story begins when a boy vanishes into thin air, and his family, friends and the local police search for answers. They get drawn into a mystery involving top-secret government experiments, supernatural forces and more.

Cindy Holland, the VP of original content for Netflix, said: “Matt and Ross are emerging filmmakers with an unmistakable passion for genre and suspense. Their unique voice infuses this coming of age drama with supernatural thrills that will captivate our global audience.”

Netflix has confirmed via Twitter that House of Cards will be coming back for a fourth season in 2016. "I will leave a legacy. #Underwood2016," the official "House of Cards" tweeted with an image that read "Season 4 coming 2016."
