So You Think You Can Dance Gets 12th Season

LOS ANGELES: FOX’s long-running competition show So You Think You Can Dance has been renewed for a 12th season, due out summer 2015.

The new season will include a special stage vs. street format, where classically trained dancers square off against hip-hop and break-dancers. Audition cities and dates for the next season are yet to be announced. The show’s latest run wrapped up in September, with Miami native Ricky Ubeda named the winner.

The show was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe and is from 19 Entertainment, a division of CORE Media Group, and dick clark productions. Its executive producers are Fuller, Lythgoe, dick clark productions CEO Allen Shapiro and dick clark productions Executive VP Barry Adelman, along with James Breen and Jeff Thacker. 

“So You Think You Can Dance is a rare jewel. It combines high art with mass entertainment in a seamless, sophisticated and hugely satisfying way,” said Simon Andreae, the executive VP of alternative entertainment at FOX Broadcasting Company. “It’s produced and consumed with tremendous passion and it’s developed one of the most deservedly loyal followings in all of unscripted television. We are immensely proud to be returning it to the schedule with a thrilling new twist that will bring it up to date and introduce a whole new set of rooting opportunities.”
