Gary Carter Joins Shine Group

AMSTERDAM: Gary Carter, who most recently served as the COO of FremantleMedia, has been placed in the newly created role at Shine Group of chairman of Northern Europe and Shine 360°.

The appointment takes effect June 1. The move will see Carter gaining oversight for the creative and operational functions of Shine Germany and the Metronome group of companies in the Nordic region. He will also operate as a "strategic sounding board" to Shine Group’s ancillary division, Shine 360°. He will be reporting to Alex Mahon, the CEO of Shine Group. Carter will be based in Amsterdam, but will travel between all offices.

Mahon said: “Gary is one of the most admired and respected figures in television production and he is a brilliant addition to our international team of creative leaders. He combines a creative heart with superb relationships and always approaches ideas with a global perspective. Having worked with him, I know his qualities and huge experience will be invaluable to our Nordic and German companies and indeed to the Shine Group as a whole.”

Carter added: “I’ve long held Shine in high regard for their approach and achievements. As an international group they remain forward-thinking and nimble, operating collectively at scale but with each company remaining distinctive, a strategy which is unique and essential in the current industry landscape. I greatly look forward to concentrating on vibrant markets within Northern Europe like Germany, and to reviving a professional relationship with the Nordic region that began in the mid-90s with the world premiere of Survivor!, and continued with the subsequent launch of Big Brother by the Metronome group.”
