BEVERLY HILLS: Netflix and Lionsgate UK have entered into a multi-year deal that brings first-run feature films from the studio to the streaming service in the U.K. and Ireland on an exclusive basis.

Lionsgate UK titles will head to the U.K. and Ireland Netflix service to be viewed instantly in the pay-TV window. This deal sees the content appearing exclusively on Netflix within one year of its theatrical release. Films covered under the pact include The Hunger Games, The Expendables 2 and the recently announced remake of Dirty Dancing. Also included are recent hits such as The Mechanic, Saw 3D and The Expendables, as well as catalogue titles such as Reservoir Dogs, The Blair Witch Project, 3:10 to Yuma and Good Night and Good Luck. Netflix will launch its service in the U.K. and Ireland in early 2012.

"Lionsgate is an important and successful supplier of television series and movies to us in all of our territories," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer. "We are proud to be the exclusive pay-TV home for Lionsgate theatrically released films in the U.K. and Ireland."

"Netflix is the leading worldwide brand in steaming movies and they have an incredible service in North America," added Zygi Kamasa, the CEO of Lionsgate UK. "We are very excited to be working with them as they launch their service and bring our movies to audiences in the U.K. and Ireland."
