LONDON: The HISTORY channel has secured further distribution in Hungary through an agreement with Antenna Hungária.

The deal makes HISTORY available to subscribers on Antenna Hungária’s DTT MinDig TV Extra service. A+E Networks UK currently offers HISTORY and HISTORY HD in Hungary. In Central Europe, HISTORY is operated by A+E Networks UK, a joint venture between A+E Networks and BSkyB.

Christina Foley, the VP of distribution and new business development at A+E Networks U.K., said, “HISTORY’s unique positioning and content makes it a valuable channel to platforms across Europe. We are very pleased to grow our distribution in Hungary through this new carriage agreement with Antenna Hungária."

Sándor Jurásek, the head of retail sales at Antenna Hungária, added: “We have added 13 brand-new channels to MinDig TV Extra, our DTT pay-TV offer and we now carry 31 channels on our DTT platform. In 2011 MinDig TV Extra achieved the highest growth among Hungarian wireless pay-TV operators, which shows that our strategy focusing on the ‘most wanted’ channels is generating significant market demand. We are pleased to add such a blue-chip channel like HISTORY to our lineup.”
