E! Launches Plan for Scripted Content, Makes New Hire

LOS ANGELES: In an effort to develop scripted content for the network, E! Entertainment Television has created the new position of senior VP of scripted programming and appointed Kevin Plunkett to the role.

E!’s newly created position follows the decision to push the network into the scripted drama space within the next few years. Reporting to Lisa Berger, the president of entertainment programming at E!, Plunkett will oversee all aspects of E!’s scripted development, collaborating with the creative community and forging relationships in the entertainment industry.

"It is very exciting for all of us at E! to enter this new programming genre, and we know that Kevin is the right person to lead the charge," Berger said. "He has both the experience and the creative vision that will help us establish and build a great scripted programming initiative that is uniquely tailored to appeal to the E! audience."

Most recently, Plunkett was the senior VP of comedy development at ABC Studios. With more than 15 years of experience in the television business, he has worked on various hit series, including Scrubs, Everybody Hates Chris, Cougartown, Samantha Who, According to Jim and Happy Endings.
