SILVER SPRING: The new Discovery Networks International (DNI) ten-part series Salvage Hunters, commissioned by Cineflix Productions UK, is to premiere on Discovery Channel in a number of territories worldwide.

The show will launch on Discovery Channel in Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden this month, followed by the rest of Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America through the end of the year. Salvage Hunters follows Welshman Drew Pritchard, a modern-day treasure hunter, as he searches the U.K. to discover hidden riches. The series features Pritchard and his crack team of specialists through the entire process from the initial expedition, to renewal and resale. Each episode ends with a reveal of the profit the team earns for each item.

Salvage Hunters captures Discovery Channel’s lens on the new fascination with picking and introduces viewers into a new and fascinating art,” said Julian Bellamy, the head of production and development and creative director of DNI. “With demanding customers, high turnover and one of the biggest decorative salvage yards in the U.K., Drew loves the thrill of the hunt and crisscrosses the country in search of derelict gems and forgotten remnants.”

Rob Carey, the creative director of Cineflix Productions, added, “Salvage Hunters combines a great central character, captivating stories and really useful insights for the viewers into how they can make money themselves from picking and restoring objects.”
