Netflix Heads to U.K. & Ireland

LOS GATOS: Netflix has confirmed that it will expand its streaming service into the U.K. and Ireland in early 2012, adding to its current reach of the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

Netflix members in the U.K. and Ireland will gain access to instant streaming of a range of TV shows and movies right on their TVs through a range of Internet-connected devices, as well as on PCs, Macs and mobile phones and tablets. Further details of the pricing, content and supported devices will be announced closer to launch.

There are currently more than 25 million Netflix subcribers in the U.S. Canada and Latin America. The service launched in the U.S. in 2007, then moved to Canada in 2010. This year that reach expanded to 43 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
