Modern-Day Cyrano de Bergerac in the Works

BURBANK: Production has begun in Atlanta on the Disney Channel original movie Let It Shine, a modern-day Cyrano de Bergerac scheduled to premiere in summer 2012.

The movie is set in the world of gospel music and hip-hop with a soundtrack featuring 12 original songs by acclaimed music producers, songwriters and performers. It stars Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris) as Cyrus DeBarge, a gifted rapper full of self-doubt; Coco Jones (Radio Disney’s N.B.T.); Trevor Jackson (Cold Case); Brandon Mychal Smith (So Random!); Nicole Sullivan (MADtv); Courtney B. Vance (FlashForward); and Dawnn Lewis (A Different World).

Let It Shine is directed Paul Hoen (Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, JONAS), and was written by Don D. Scott (Barbershop, Barbershop 2: Back in Business) and Eric Daniel. It is choreographed by Danny Teeson (American Idol) and associate Brandon Shaw (So You Think You Can Dance, NAACP Image Awards). It is a production of G Wave Productions.
