EL SEGUNDO: DirecTV’s Audience Network is to serve as the exclusive U.S. broadcaster for Paul Abbott’s new Sky Atlantic drama Hit and Miss.

Chloë Sevigny (Big Love, Boys Don’t Cry) stars in the show as Mia, a contract killer who is a pre-op transsexual. Her life is turned upside down when she receives a letter from an ex-girlfriend who is dying from cancer revealing that Mia fathered a son 11 years ago. Mia becomes the guardian to a new family, mixing her killer instincts with maternal ones.

Hit and Miss is the first original commission for Sky Atlantic. The show is co-produced by Abbott’s development company AbbottVision and Red Production Company. It is the latest project born from the relationship between FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) and AbbottVision. FME provides the development funding to AbbottVision and distributes the shows around the world.

“DIRECTV is incredibly proud that Hit and Miss will be airing exclusively on Audience Network,” said Chris Long, the senior VP of entertainment and production at DIRECTV. “We are always looking for daring, intelligent programming to bring to our viewers and Hit and Miss certainly fits the bill. We have long been admirers of Paul Abbott’s work and are thrilled to be able to work with him on this project.”

"Since the launch of our global drama strategy two years ago we have delivered a range of high-quality scripted content to audiences around the world, and are delighted to be taking Hit and Miss to the 19 million-plus DIRECTV customers across the U.S.,” said David Ellender, the global CEO of FremantleMedia Enterprises. “FME’s collaborations with leading talent such as Paul Abbott have resulted in compelling, cutting-edge programming that underlines our reputation as leading developers, co-producers and distributors of globally popular content.”
