CANNES: Hidden Stars, Body Bowling and Break the Safe are among the highlight titles on FremantleMedia’s format roster.

Hidden Stars is an entertainment format that sees friends and family submit performances of singers unsuspectingly. Celebrity mentors assess the entries, then make surprise visits to the signers and invite them to audition on the spot. Each mentor chooses the contestant they think is the star of tomorrow, and together they prepare duets to perform, which viewers will then choose from to determine who is eliminated each week. The show is from FremantleMedia’s Danish production arm, Blu.

Don’t Stop Me Now is a high-stakes contest that features a range of talents being showcased, from stand-up comics, to singers, to variety performers. If the acts aren’t good, they are ejected from the show, via trap doors, smashing through walls, explosions, etc. Audience members have a voting keypad and determine who’s ejected and who is the last act standing. The series is created by Magnum Media for Sky 1 in the U.K.

Body Bowling is the new physical game show from Fuji TV, the creators of Hole in the Wall. Two teams must knock down super-sized bowling pins, using their body as the ball. Also on the slate is Break the Safe, a prime-time game show from talkbackTHAMES. The format watches three pairs of contestants battle in fast-paced rounds, filling the safe with prize money along the way.

The Villa is a dating format, with reality elements and challenges. The show is originally from Talent Television and has been redeveloped by FremantleMedia’s Blue Circle in the Netherlands. Hotel Stories shares the real-life dramas and laughter of guests who are checking in for a life-changing stay. From Globomedia, the format is set in a stylish city-center hotel, serving as the backdrop for a range of true-life tales.

Through the Keyhole is an invitation into the homes of celebrities. From David Paradine Productions for ITV1, the format features a guided tour of a mystery celebrity home by a  knowledgeable  presenter, who then asks a studio panel of celebrities to guess whose house it is. Capping off the catalogue highlights is Show Choir Challenge, a singing-dancing extravaganza. Six top choreographers are assigned to gather talented young performers in an attempt to prove they can create the best show choir. The show is from 10 Star Entertainment.

Trish Kinane, the acting president of worldwide entertainment at FremantleMedia, said: “This is going to be an exceptionally busy market and FremantleMedia’s MIPCOM slate includes a strong lineup of fantastic new programs in genres that continue to inspire and entice audiences the world over.
