PARIS: Five new commissions have been secured by BBC Worldwide Productions France, including a second-season order for the local version of Dancing with the Stars for TF1.

Danse Avec Les Stars was a hit on TF1 earlier this year. The first season wrapped with 5 million viewers tuning in for the finale; a second season is to kick off October 8.

The deals also include Direct Star ordering nine more Star Report documentaries, bringing its total number of music docs commissioned to 24. Photo of Life with Oliviero Toscani, adapted from the Twofour production for BBC Two, is set for Arte. Roméo & Juliette and Une semaine sans electricité scored pickups from France 2.

Jean-Louis Blot, the director of BBC Worldwide Productions France, commented, “These new commissions continue a successful year for us, which has already seen Danse Avec Les Stars and Une semaine sans les femmes debut to excellent ratings. We have a varied catalogue of quality formats, including Junior Doctors, Toughest Place To Be and Daddy Daycare, so there’s plenty more potential for us to build ever stronger relationships with our existing—and also new—partners in France.”
