Disney Inks Streaming, DVD Deal in Brazil

SÃO PAULO: The Brazilian DVD-by-mail and Internet-streaming company NetMovies has inked its first major deal with a Hollywood studio, scoring the rights to a host of movies and series from Disney Media Distribution.

The multi-year content licensing agreement will give NetMovies’ subscribers access to Disney titles via its DVD/Blu-ray home delivery and instant streaming services. Available content will include the Pirates of the Caribbean, Wild Hogs, Desperate Housewives, Criminal Minds and Brothers and Sisters.

NetMovies, Brazil’s largest online subscription service for movies and TV series, offers access to more than 35,000 titles, with subs paying R$9.99 ($5.50) a month for unlimited SVOD and R$14.99 ($8.30) a month for unlimited streaming and DVD/Blu-ray delivered to the home.
