Spain’s Phileas Productions Scores U.S. Option for The ATM

MADRID: Zoo Productions has picked up the rights from Spanish producer Phileas Productions to adapt the game show The ATM for the U.S.

The ATM has also been taken on by Endemol (France and Belgium). The show is set in a city, where contestants walk up to an ATM to withdraw money and discovery that someone has placed an extra 500,000 euros ($1,000,000 in the U.S. version) in their account. In order to keep the money, with will have to pass five tests.

Sergio Sancho, the founder and managing director of Phileas Productions, said, "We are very pleased with the agreement, since it represents a unique opportunity for our format to make the big leap across the pond to the United States whilst in the hands of a great producer like Zoo. They have great experience and professionalism, and already have many formats that are currently being aired on numerous American channels."

"ATM is a simple and very relateable format that will have mass appeal internationally," commented Barry Poznick, the CEO of Zoo Productions. John Stevens, the CEO of Zoo Productions, added, "who wouldn’t love to be at the ATM and find one million dollars deposited into your account? The fun is seeing if that can win the game and keep it all."
