BBC Worldwide Names Regional EVP for EMEA

LONDON: BBC Worldwide has hired Joerg Bachmaier, who previously served as the senior VP and general manager for the Americas at Endemol Worldwide Brands, as the new regional executive VP for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. 

Bachmaier will be responsible for BBC Worldwide’s development in EMEA, excluding the U.K., and delivering new brands, products and services. He takes on the new post in November, reporting to Paul Dempsey, the managing director of consumer products and managing director for EMEA on BBC Worldwide’s executive committee. Bachmaier joins from the Endemol Group, where prior to his role at Worldwide Brands was serving as the VP of business development and senior VP of digital media. Before Endemol, he was the director of new media and business development at ZDF Enterprises. 

This hire marks the latest move in BBC Worldwide’s aim to drive international revenue growth and an increased focus on regional opportunities. Las week, Fred Medina was announced as the executive  VP for Latin America, and similar roles are being created for Asia, in addition to existing positions for North America and Australasia.
