LONDON/CULVER CITY: Channel 4 has signed on for the U.K. broadcast rights to the new Sony Pictures Television series Charlie’s Angels to air on E4.

The series is a remake based on the original ’70s TV show. Charlie’s Angels is about three beautiful women who fight crime while working for Townsend Detective Agency in Miami. It stars Ramon Rodriguez, Annie Ilonzeh (Melrose Place), Minka Kelly (The Roommate) and Rachael Taylor (Transformers), and is executive produced by Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville), Drew Barrymore, Leonard Goldberg and Nancy Juvonen (Charlie’s Angels) and Marcos Siega (Vampire Diaries). The reboot will make its U.S. debut on ABC this fall.

"Charlie’s Angels is a lighthearted, high-kicking romp with all the glitz, glamour and beautiful crime fighters you would expect from a U.S. remake of the iconic original,” said Gill Hay, the head of acquisitions for Channel 4. “E4 viewers can look forward to some hot Miami action as part of our brand new lineup."

Stuart Baxter, the senior executive VP for SPT’s distribution in Europe, added, “Charlie’s Angels is recognised the world over and our glamorous, feisty new Angels are set to rekindle the enthusiasm, energy and excitement so long associated with this iconic brand as they make their U.K. debut on E4.”
