Celestial Movies Lines Up Multi-Genre Kung Fu Carnival

HONG KONG: The 24/7 Chinese movie channel Celestial Movies is to air the two-month long Kung Fu Carnival, showcasing a wide range of genres of Kung Fu films, starting tomorrow.

The films lined up for broadcast span genres such as comedy, fantasy, romance and biopics. Recent films such as Donnie Yen’s Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen, Andy Lau’s Shaolin and Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, Michelle Yeoh’s Reign of Assassins, as well as Aarif Lee’s Bruce Lee, My Brother, are set to air.

“For those who don’t watch a lot of martial arts films, we hope to show them that there are many facets to Kung Fu movies just like there are many different rides at a carnival,” said Andy Chang, the senior VP of marketing at Celestial Pictures. “From a Bruce Lee biopic to the romance between Michelle Yeoh and Woo-sung Jung’s characters in Reign of Assassins, Kung Fu movies are more than just non-stop fighting. And for Kung Fu fans, we just want to offer them the latest blockbusters exclusively every Saturday night.”
