New CEO at Sky Italia

LONDON: News Corporation has placed Andrea Zappia in the role of CEO at Sky Italia, replacing Tom Mockridge, who left last month to succeed Rebekah Brooks as CEO of News International following her resignation.

Zappia has been serving as the managing director for the customer group at BSkyB. He joined BSkyB in February 2010 and prior to this spent seven years at Sky Italia.

James Murdoch, the deputy chief operating officer and chairman and CEO of international at News Corp., said: "I am delighted that Andrea is to return to Sky Italia, given he played such a key role in the team that has laid the foundations for its success. Andrea is a world-class executive with a breadth of experience across a range of roles, covering operations, sports, marketing, broadband and branding, and a range of sectors.
