MADRID: The Zinkia Entertainment preschool animated series Pocoyo is to be added to the Nick Jr. weekend lineup in the U.S. beginning July 23, in addition to its current weekday broadcasts.

Pocoyo is currently licensed to broadcasters in more than 150 territories worldwide, and has received numerous awards, including a BAFTA for Best Animated Preschool Series, three Pucinella Prizes at Italy’s Cartoons on the Bay Festival and Best TV Series at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. It has also seen success online and across social media platforms, with its YouTube channel receiving more than 50 million hits per month, totaling 500 million-plus hits in the past two years.

Pocoyo began airing on Nick Jr. last year and has since been steadily building awareness and a strong fan base in the U.S. which is evidenced by the increase in our online presence,” said Maria Doolan, the managing director of brand and business development at Zinkia Entertainment. “With the new weekend time slot scheduled, we anticipate a significant increase in viewership as more children, parents and caregivers are exposed to Pocoyo and his friends as they play together, laugh together and learn together.”
