VH1 Renews Single Ladies

LOS ANGELES: The scripted series Single Ladies has been given a second-season order from VH1, coming just ahead of the show’s season one finale, to air on August 8.

The show has been averaging 2.8 million total viewers during premiere, plus first encore airings on Monday nights. The second season of the scripted drama/comedy, which stars Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea, is expected to begin filming in late 2011 for a 2012 debut. The series comes from Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment.

"Our viewers have fallen for Single Ladies and its honest, modern take on love, female friendship and dating," said Jeff Olde, the executive VP of original programming and production at VH1. "We’re extremely pleased to give the audience another great season of the series they love."

"My partner Shakim and I are so excited that Single Ladies has been received so well," added Queen Latifah, Flavor Unit Entertainment’s executive producer. "We knew from the beginning this show was going to appeal to people everywhere; it’s funny, sexy and smart. We are so happy that we were able to join with VH1 to find such a great home for this incredible show."
