Video Interview: Discovery’s Enrique R. Martínez

NEW YORK: Enrique R. Martínez, the executive VP and managing director of Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic, discusses the growth of the business, and highlights his goals for the year ahead.

Earlier this week, Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic unveiled a restructure of its senior programming team. In announcing the changes, Martínez explained that these shifts now sort the channels by genre or demographic segments: lifestyle, programming based on real life and entertainment. "These groups will benefit from the interdisciplinary element and create an environment to foster new ideas and perspectives," he said.

Martínez has led the Latin American/U.S. Hispanic business at Discovery for more than a decade, helping to create a diverse and successful portfolio that spans 13 brands across 38 territories in three languages with 29 feeds. Martínez says the business has seen solid growth in both reach and ad revenues over the last year, pointing to the strengths of Mexico and Brazil, as well as Colombia, Peru, Chile and Argentina. Another important area for growth, Martínez notes, has been the investments made in developing networks for the U.S. Hispanic market.
