Fisher Klingenstein Films Snags Back Door Channels Doc

NEW YORK: Fisher Klingenstein Films has picked up Back Door Channels: The Price of Peace for theatrical release, to premiere on September 16 in New York City.

The documentary, which features Jimmy Carter, Henry Kissinger, Menachem Begin, Anwar El-Sadat and Boutros Boutros-Ghali, focuses on the peace process between Egypt and Israel and the men who were at the forefront. It was produced by Matthew Tollin and Arick Wierson, and directed by multi-Emmy award-winning director Harry Hunkele. It’s set to expand to other markets throughout the fall.

Danny Fisher, the CEO of distributor Fisher Klingenstein Films, said, "We are pleased to make Back Door Channels the first theatrical release of our new company. The film is incredibly timely given the current upheavals in Egypt, Libya, Syria and literally all over the Middle East, and delivers a powerful message about the value of diplomacy."

"It is a dream fulfilled getting Back Door Channels to the big screen,” added Matthew Tollin, the film’s producer. “Hearing from the likes of former President Jimmy Carter and Henry Kissinger on how to create peace today is as timely as ever. We are very excited Fisher Klingenstein understood this before the birth of the ‘Arab Spring’ this year."

Leon Charney, who appears in the film, said, "We now live in a world where WikiLeaks and the Internet make it nearly impossible to negotiate using secret diplomacy. Back Door Channels is an important reminder that peace can be achieved, not through guns and bombs, but through the lost art of diplomacy and the necessary secrecy involved."
