Discovery Networks LatAm/U.S. Hispanic Reorganizes Content Team

MIAMI: Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic has restructured its senior programming team, with new roles for Ángela Recio Sondón (lifestyle), Bilai Joa Silar (factual) and Claudia Chagüi (Liv).

As VP and director of lifestyle channels, Recio Sondón will oversee a portfolio that includes Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Travel & Living, TLC HD and Discovery Kids, all of which skew toward female audiences. Joa Silar, as VP and director of factual, will manage Discovery Channel, Discovery HD Theater, Discovery en Español, Discovery Familia, Animal Planet, Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science and Discovery Turbo. Chagüi, meanwhile, will focusing exclusively on the Latin American entertainment channel Liv as VP and director.

"In recent months I have had the opportunity to work closely with Angie, Bilai and Claudia, which has allowed me to get closer to the soul of our business: the content," said Enrique R. Martínez, executive VP and general manager of Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic. "I have decided to amend the responsibilities of my colleagues to take advantage of their experience and sort channels by genre or demographic segments—lifestyle, programming based on real life, and entertainment. These groups will benefit from the interdisciplinary element and create an environment to foster new ideas and perspectives."
