LONDON: More than 475 hours of programming have been sold by Cineflix International Distribution to broadcasters across Central and Eastern Europe so far in 2011.

In Russia, sales total more than 225 hours of content in the first six months of the year. Deals have been secured with broadcasters and distributors such as CTC Media’s DTV Television, U7, 1HD-TV, Intra TV, Content Union/Klub 200/Zoopark, Artemedia Group and Russian Report. Among the titles sold into Russia are Huge Moves, Weird or What?, Python Hunters, Pitchin’ In, Extreme Poodles, Birth Stories, Tsunami Search & Rescue and Nuclear Meltdown.

In Ukraine, Direct Sight, the acquisition arm of UA Inter Media Group, picked up 179 hours, including Human Prey, Austin Stevens Adventures, Zero Hour, Birth Days, Love It or Lose It and The Last 10 Pounds Boot Camp.

Recent sales in Estonia include Kanal 2 taking on Conviction Kitchen, Murder She Solved: True Crime, Sextuplets Take New York and Urban Legends.

Caroline Schroeter, Cineflix International’s sales manager for CIS, Ukraine, Baltics and the German-speaking territories, commented: “This is an incredibly exciting time to be involved in the CIS territories. In the last year, the region’s media landscape has been going through seismic changes, not just in terms of structure and market dynamics, but also in attitude and confidence. Today, broadcasters in these regions are only interested in quality content—because their audiences are no longer satisfied with second-rate product. I believe this is why Cineflix International’s programming is in such demand: we offer the sort of fresh, challenging content that reflects the region’s new mood and mentality.”
