LONDON: Cineflix International Distribution has secured a slew of deals on the ITN Productions fast-turnaround documentaries Tsunami Search and Rescue and Nuclear Meltdown.

Tsunami Search and Rescue is a commission from Channel 5, which aired the doc in April this year. It follows the British rescuers and medics who went to Japan in the aftermath of the tsunami. The doc has been picked up by Fox Latin America, covering more than 40 territories, as well as SBS Australia, Silver Box Limited in Russia, Aljazeera Network in Turkey, VMMA in Belgium, RTL Tvi, including Luxembourg, Barrandov TV in Czech Republic and Origo in Hungary.

Nuclear Meltdown looks at how the nuclear reactors in Fukushima began to disintegrate. When one exploded, the Japanese government declared a "nuclear emergency." New deals on the doc are in place with CNBC in the U.S., YLE Television in Finland, N24 Germany, Multicanal Iberia, Marjan Television for Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan and TVN SA in Poland.

Fox Latin America, Silver Box Limited, Aljazeera Network in Turkey, RTL Tvi, SBS Australia, Barrandov TV and Origo in Hungary bought both titles.

Nicola Andrews, the head of acquisitions at Cineflix, commented: "This has been the first of what we hope will be a pipeline of directly commissioned quick-turnaround documentaries. The combination of ITN’s long-standing expertise in making news features and the excellent sales team at Cineflix International has ensured both shows’ global reach has been very extensive in a short time—the strategy has paid off well."
