LONDON: Tom Toumazis is leaving Endemol to become CEO of the pan-European publishing group Mecom, effective this August.

Upon Toumazis’s arrival, Stephen Davidson, currently executive chairman of Mecom, will become non-executive chairman. It is not yet clear if Toumazis’s post as chief commercial officer at Endemol will be filled. He joined Endemol at the beginning of 2009 following a long stint at Disney, managing the program, new media and channel distribution business in EMEA. Prior to Disney, Toumazis held several senior roles at publisher Emap.

Davidson said of Toumazis, "His extensive experience in all aspects of the traditional and new media business and his leadership qualities equip him ideally to take the helm at Mecom and help ensure we realize our full potential.”

Toumazis noted, “Mecom has an impressive European footprint, which combines powerful national and local print media positions with rapidly growing online and new media operations. It has considerable potential to develop its multimedia platforms and build strong digital revenues and I am excited to be given the opportunity to lead the company.”
