LOS ANGELES: MarVista Entertainment has signed up Brazil’s Grupo Banderiantes de Comunicação for the free-TV rights for the new Power Rangers Samurai as well as classic Power Rangers episodes.

Rede Bandeirantes is set to air all 40 episodes of Power Rangers Samurai, along with select episodes from the classic Power Rangers series. Band will launch Power Rangers Samurai in the fourth quarter. Argentina’s SNAP TV, MarVista’s partner in Latin America, brokered the deal.

“Grupo Banderiantes is a powerful multimedia group encompassing not just broadcast but also newspaper, radio, magazines, and digital holdings and we are positive that they are fully committed to taking an already successful franchise in Brazil and making it even stronger,” commented Fernando Szew, the CEO of MarVista. “They have developed a strategy to broadcast the series in optimal time slots based on ample research to reach as many kids and fans of the Power Rangers as possible. We believe Bandeirantes provides the best platform to deliver Power Rangers Samurai to children across Brazil, fully complementing the broadcast of the series on Nickelodeon.”

“We are very excited with the opportunity of having an important franchise such as Power Rangers in our schedule,” added Helio Vargas, the programming director for Grupo Banderiantes de Comunicação. “This is a clear message that Band is strongly investing in kids programming and this property will definitely be the leading attraction in our Band Kids slot throughout 2011 and the coming years.”
