KUALA LUMPUR: Fox International’s BabyTV has launched on pay-TV operator Astro in Malaysia.

The network, which debuted in 2003, features short-form episodes that focus on early-learning themes and emphasize parent-child interaction. BabyTV offers exclusive original programming and, in addition to its linear channels, has VOD, broadband and mobile offerings. The network is currently found on some 400 affiliate platforms in more than 90 countries.

Yang Berhormat Senator Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, the minister of women, family and community development, said: “Each and every child in Malaysia deserves the best so that they have the chance to grow up to be a happy, healthy and well-rounded individual. As learning starts long before school does, early childhood development and education play a vital role in shaping children’s experiences in the first few years, building the trajectory of tomorrow’s success. In this day and age, our children are exposed to a variety of stimuli, with television playing a big part in that. The availability of BabyTV as a top-quality tool that is innovative, well-designed and education-oriented, and also commercial-free, will help support parents as they learn and play together with their children."

Zubin Gandevia, the COO for Asia Pacific and the Middle East for Fox International Channels in Asia, added: “We are excited to bring BabyTV, the world’s first and most widely distributed pay-TV channel, with our long-standing partner, Astro to Malaysian homes. BabyTV’s uncompromising quality contents are designed by early childhood experts to promote learning and development for babies and toddlers. It is the only channel that is commercial free and encourages parent and child interaction. We are confident that parents in Malaysia will find BabyTV a big welcome as with parents across the world.”
