Video Interview: Mediaset’s Patricio Teubal

NEW YORK: Patricio Teubal, head of sales for Mediaset Distribution, talks about the core strengths of the recently launched channel Mediaset Italia, as well as reasons for its rapid take-up, in addition to outlining the company’s goals for its international business and highlighting some of the key successes from its scripted-formats slate.

 


Mediaset Distribution has been taking Italian TV programs around the world for some time now, with a catalogue of more than 500 titles and a yearly investment in new drama productions of more than 200 million euros. As of late, the company has also seen a successful increase in sales from its scripted-format unit.

The company recently ventured into the channels business, rolling out the linear service Mediaset Italia globally. In just a short amount of time, the Italian-language channel, backed by the brand recognition of its Mediaset parent company, secured carriage in a slew of territories. Mediaset Italia was even able to crack the difficult U.S. market, where it is now available to more than 15 million homes, providing programming just hours after its original Italian broadcast.
