LUCERNE: The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has re-signed its agreement with Radio Television Kosovo (RTK), allowing the public broadcaster to make use of various EBU services.

The EBU was mandated in September 1999, following the breakup of ex-Yugoslavia, by the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to set up and run RTK. The broadcaster initially aired for only two hours per evening. RTK was formally founded as a legal entity in 2011. Today, the service broadcasts on both terrestrial and satellite networks and includes one TV station and two radio stations. Content is produced and broadcast in Albanian, Serbian, Turkish, Bosnian and Roma.

The agreement provides the public broadcaster with access to TV programs, as well as other EBU services.
