NEW YORK: BBC America has scooped up the rights to all 80 hours of Battlestar Galactica, encompassing the two-part mini-series and seasons one through four.

The Syfy original was acquired from NBC Universal Domestic TV Distribution. It launches on BBC America June 18, airing as part of the Supernatural Saturday lineup, a block that will also soon feature the new co-pros Outcasts and Bedlam. BBC America is also co-producing a new season of Being Human for the block.

Battlestar Galactica, which wrapped its run in 2009, was a key franchise for Syfy, spawning two prequels: Caprica, which was canceled last year, and the upcoming Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome. Sky1 was a co-producer on the series, which featured as part of its cast British actor Jamie Bamber, who also stars in BBC America’s upcoming Outcasts.
