Turner Scores First-Look on Scrawl Studios Output

HONG KONG/SINGAPORE: Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific has secured first-look rights to new original productions from Singaporean outfit Scrawl Studios.

The multi-year agreement was signed with Singapore’s Media Development Authority (MDA) and the animation house. Scrawl output will potentially air on Cartoon Network across the Asia Pacific.

“We’re always on the look out for fresh talent and ideas, and Singapore is fast emerging as a leading creative centre for the animation industry," said Vishnu Athreya, executive director of programming acquisitions and development at Turner. "We now have the opportunity to tap into the development slate of one of Asia’s most dynamic animation studios and we’re excited to be working closely with both MDA and Scrawl to deliver the very best in kids’ entertainment.”

He added, “Cartoon Network is the leading kids’ lifestyle brand in Asia Pacific that extends far beyond TV and into the lives of kids wherever they want our characters and stories to be.
