James Murdoch Upped at News Corp.

NEW YORK: James Murdoch has been elevated to deputy COO and chairman and CEO of international at News Corporation, a role that sees him relocating to New York.

In this new post, Murdoch—formerly chairman and CEO for Europe and Asia—will work across News Corporation’s broad asset portfolio, collaborating with senior leaders to develop and execute strategies and plans that strengthen and further evolve businesses, extend brands, and build new franchises. He will maintain direct responsibility for the operations in Europe and Asia. In the new role, he continues to report to Chase Carey, deputy chairman, president and COO, and work closely with Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO.

“James has demonstrated in an array of roles that he is a shrewd and decisive operator who can deftly navigate complex issues to transform businesses.
