SINGAPORE: Disney Media Distribution (DMD) has established a program distribution team in Singapore, appointing Janet Eng as regional director of program distribution for pan-regional and Southeast Asia.

In addition, DMD has relocated Emma Hu, the senior manager of program distribution for Southeast Asia, to Singapore from Hong Kong.

The new Singapore-based distribution team will have local oversight of the program distribution strategy of DMD’s TV and studio content across all media platforms. The team will cultivate relationships with media partners and identify revenue growth opportunities, focusing on emerging digital media space.

Eng previously held senior positions at MTV, Singapore Press Holdings and Sony Pictures Television International. She will report to Amit Malhotra, the VP of program distribution for the media distribution at The Walt Disney Company in the Asia Pacific.

Malhotra stated: “We are committed to investing and growing our presence in this high growth region and with a dedicated team on-ground in Singapore, we can work deeper and closer with local partners to grow the industry and provide consumers with the best entertainment experience. We are excited to have Janet, a seasoned industry executive, join our team to help drive growth initiatives and tap into exciting new opportunities in the region.”

Eng said: “This is an exciting growth period for Disney in Asia and I am thrilled to be joining the team. Disney’s vast portfolio and compelling content combined with the company’s focus on driving digital media initiatives are very exciting and I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth across these areas.”

Hu joined Disney in 2002 and was key to building franchise exposure and growing content sales business in China. Originally based in Beijing, Hu relocated in 2009 to Hong Kong to manage program distribution sales for Southeast Asia. She will report to Eng.
