Filmart Draws Records Malaysian Presence

HONG KONG: The 2011 Filmart conference is expected to host the largest ever delegation from Malaysia.

Malaysia’s National Film Development Corporation (FINAS), Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia) and the newly established Global Creative and Media Agency (GCMA) have come together to bring 27 Malaysian companies to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event takes place from March 21 to 24. 

Comprised of more than 100 participants, the Malaysian delegation will include broadcasters such as RTM, Media Prima, Astro and LiTV Asia, and TV and film production companies like KRU Studios, Tayangan Unggul, LineClear Motion Pictures, Sheunik, Asia-Pacific Videolab, Infinite Entertainment, Q-Plex Communication, Redang Digital, FilmPoint, FilmScape, Juita Viden, Juita Entertainment, Young Jump Animation, Animasia Studio, Elite Animation, Glue Studios, Framemotion Studio, Third Rock Creation, Otti Pictures, Quack Concepts, Creative Media Point, Clarify Consulting and Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival.

The Malaysia Pavilion spans 90 square meters. New this year is Malaysia’s GCMA, which has been appointed to facilitate Malaysian digital content promotions and marketing for FINAS, SKMM and MDeC. Adam Ham, the executive director of GCMA and the former entertainment and media specialist of MDeC, said that GCMA will play a critical role to facilitate market development, PR and media, government relations and industry development in the efforts of transforming Malaysia into a regional hub for digital content. Creative Malaysia, FINAS, MDeC and SKMM also aim to secure several crucial distribution and co-production deals worth RM 20 million for the Asia-Pacific contents industry.
