LONDON: Matthew Littleford has announced his departure from UKTV, which he joined in 2007 and has most recently been serving as controller for.

During his tenure, Littleford has increased UKTV’s commissioning hours and secured breakout hits across the lifestyle and factual genres, among other programming credits. He led the broadcaster through the rebrand of its channel portfolio as well.

Littleford said of his departure: “After nearly four years at UKTV, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to take on a new creative challenge. I’ve had the most amazing time at UKTV and am incredibly proud of everything we’ve all accomplished. During my time at UKTV, the network undertook the most ambitious rebrand in broadcasting history—nine channels and a brand-new channel, Watch. Last year was a great year—our channels are going great guns and we’ve won loads of awards.”

Darren Childs, UKTV’s CEO, commented: "I’ve enjoyed working with Matthew. He’s a talented and creative exec who has helped establish UKTV as one of the UK’s leading broadcasters. Thanks to his work and dedication, UKTV is well placed to tackle the next stage of its creative evolution and I wish him well in his next endeavor."

Roly Keating, BBC’s director of archive content and UKTV’s editor and chief, added: "Matthew has been a hugely dynamic and creative leader for the UKTV channels.  With his characteristic vitality and inventiveness he has overseen a comprehensive re-launch of the entire portfolio, driving success with high-profile commissions and acquisitions that complement the best of the BBC archive. He leaves the portfolio in great shape for the next stage in UKTV’s creative development."
