Oliver Stone to Lead Jury for ScreenSingapore’s Asian Short Film Awards

SINGAPORE: Oscar winner Oliver Stone will head the jury at the Asian Short Film Awards, part of the inaugural edition of ScreenSingapore, taking place June 5 to 12.

ScreenSingapore is hosted by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), with support from the Singapore Tourism Board and the Economic Development Board. It is organized by Experia Events. As part of the event, the Asian Short Film Awards seek to nurture Asian film talent and bring them to the attention of the international audience. Jurors include Eric Khoo, Singaporean film director; Devesh Chetty, the director and CEO of RGM Media; and Maggie Lee, Asia chief critic for The Hollywood Reporter. The panel will shortlist the top three films, and the winner will be selected by Stone. The selected winner stands to walk away with a SGD$20,000 cash prize, sponsored by RGM Media, and hosted travel and accommodation to attend the awards ceremony in Singapore.

Aubeck Kam, the CEO of MDA, said: “The Asian Short Film Awards is an opportunity for the global film community to recognize upcoming Asian filmmakers. Many prominent film directors today like Martin Scorsese and Peter Jackson began their successful careers in short films.
