Banff to Honor Actor Eugene Levy

TORONTO: The Banff World Media Festival has selected actor and comedian Eugene Levy to receive this year’s Award of Excellence.

Levy will also participate in a master class, in which he will discuss his career, including his early years as part of Toronto’s Second City comedy troop. Levy has appeared in more than 40 films, including Bringing Down the House, Over the Hedge and the American Pie franchise. He is also featured in the Christopher Guest films Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, For Your Consider and A Mighty Wind.

With this award, Levy joins the roster of past recipients that include David Chase, Victor Garber, David Shore, Carol Mendelsohn, Dick Wolf and Nigel Lythgoe.

"Eugene Levy’s career has garnered him international acclaim and we are proud to be honoring him with this year’s Award of Excellence,” said Ferne Cohen, the executive director of the festival. “We are also delighted that he will be sharing his experiences with us in a special master class.”
