LONDON: Endemol has notched up further deals for its hit format The Money Drop in Central and Eastern Europe.

Endemol Poland has been commissioned by TVP2 to produce a 13-episode installment of the hit game show. Production is under way, with a launch set for this month. The series will air in a Saturday night prime-time slot.

A second season of the show has been commissioned by broadcasters in Russia (Rossiya), Kazakhstan (Channel 7), Greece (Mega) and Hungary (TV2). In Hungary, viewers can play along at home online. The Russian and Kazakh versions are produced at one pan-regional production hub in Moscow by Endemol’s joint venture Weit Media. The hub is also home to the Ukrainian series, which is airing on 1+1. In Turkey, The Money Drop recently launched in its third season on Show TV. This brings the total number of episodes produced in the region to more than 200, and counting.

David Flynn, creator of The Money Drop at Endemol UK, said: “It’s hard to believe that it’s less than a year since The Money Drop first launched and it’s great to see 14 major international broadcasters taking it up so quickly. Wherever we make this show it delivers compelling moments of all or nothing jeopardy and I’m certain viewers in Poland will be just as gripped as the rest of the world.”

Marina Williams, Endemol’s CEO of Central and Eastern Europe operations, added: “The Money Drop is an irresistible format that has been an instant hit with viewers in the region. Our production hub for the show in Moscow allows us to deliver high value hit programming and we plan to extend our production capabilities to neighboring territories. Central and Eastern Europe is a key growth area for Endemol this latest deal in Poland cements the show’s growing popularity.”
